My name is Dena Sawyer and I have graduated
from Shift and Wake Up’s Life Certification Program. When I met Lynne (who trained me), I was
fascinated by what she did as a Holistic Life Coach and wanted to know more
about her services and how she became a life coach. I always found religious
and spiritual matters fascinating. It was something that I had always wanted to
do, but at the time I was a business owner/entrepreneur and had zero time to
take on any other projects in my life. In fact, my life felt like I already had
too much on my plate, that I couldn’t possibly add anything more to it. I owned
my own business, started another side business in network marketing, am a full-time
mom to two very active young boys, I had no time for friends or recreational
activities, and was always lacking enough money.
When Lynne first announced that she was starting a life
coach certification program a few months later, my interests were peaked. I
still had all of the same problems, but realized I have to make a change or I
would just have more of the same. Einstein said it best when he stated, “The
definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and
expecting different results”. I felt like I couldn’t get off the
merry-go-round. After speaking with her, she asked me if becoming a life coach
is what I really felt led to do. I thought about it for a while. Realizing that
I jumped from job to job, and novelty to novelty, I wanted to make sure that
this wasn’t the newest greatest things that would quickly fade away if it
didn’t keep my interest. I felt that this was something I had a passion for. My
deepest desire was to find my own happiness and bring that reality into others
people’s lives.
The biggest obstacles I faced when starting this new journey
were time and money. I bring this up because these are usually the same excuses
we all feel when something new is brought into our reality, whether it’s adding
on a new activity or changing careers. Money was definitely my biggest
struggle. I have felt a lack of it my entire life. As a child, I always heard
the adults around me saying we didn’t have money to do things. I have always
felt a like I never had enough, I was never paid what I was worth, and I could
never be recognized for promotions.
I’m telling my story because many people are asking for
changes and you must be aware of those ‘answers’ to your prayers when they are
presented to you (sometimes they do not come in the form that you were
expecting). There I was with bills pilling up, not knowing how I would afford
to pay for classes to become a life coach. Lynne recognized that this was
something I needed to work through, being a major theme in my life and
something that I also needed coaching on. First she taught me that money is
only energy, and that we exchange money for goods and services. It’s important
energetically to learn to trust that I am on the right path and everything will
be provided for before I need it; that was why she asked me early on if this
was really my passion. She suggested that I pay the fee each week before my
class and TRUST that before the next class I will have the money come to me to
pay for it. So, here is where the miracle came. The exact amount of money
needed came to me 24 hours before the next class, and each week thereafter. I
was amazed! This teaching about money and sourcing taught me so much about
trusting in myself and figuring out what my true beliefs are about money: not
what other people had taught me.
I knew what I wanted to do
and wanted to have, but didn't see the path to get there. Becoming a life coach
and the journey I have been on since starting this program has opened my eyes
to a new life…a life where I can find peace, harmony, love, prosperity, and
happiness. I have woken up from the old way of struggling, sorrow, pain,
emptiness, and judgment. Through this work, I have learned to love myself- forgive
the hurts in my past. I began to understand who I was and realized that the
people who were there didn’t know any better either. The reason things happened
and the things they taught me about the world were taught to them and handed
down generation after generation. There is such healing and growth when I take
that understanding and turn it into self-awareness and responsibility. Only then
can I start seeing the wholeness that I have and how everything that happens in
my world is for my self growth and deeper understanding on my path.
It was like I was in a hospital bed for many years in a
coma. I was being feed through tubes and monitored by machines. My whole
existence was limited to the bed and the little room with white walls and
memories and experiences I had. Then I opened my eyes. I decided I didn’t want
to be fed through a tube or monitored by machines any longer. I wanted to have
new experiences, so I sat up in bed with a new hunger for the unknown. I
disconnected everything. I had a new perspective and wanted more. I swung my
legs over the side of the bed and planted my feet on the ground. I felt my feet
and legs strong even though I had been told for years that I couldn’t walk
without assistance. I told myself to stand up. I felt the power in my body to
do what I commanded and it responded. I turned the tv off, which had been my
primary source for news and information about the world around me. I took steps
towards the door wanting more answers and more life. This was a great feeling.
I was ready to experience all that life has to offer. I shed the old, and knew
that there was more beyond that door. I was ready! I opened the door…
I am now walking that new life and living with joy, peace,
harmony, laughter, overwhelming love for every human being, divine connections,
greater understanding of our purpose in this life and on earth. I’m enjoying
being in the moment, being in the flow with life, and seeing things with new
eyes and new perspectives. It’s been an amazing journey.
I am ready to show others how they can have the life of
their dreams. I am devoting my life to the service of others. I see each person
as whole, prefect, and complete. When someone comes to me asking about this
journey I know they are ready because they have already opened their eyes from
the hospital bed. You can begin your journey with one step, and I am here as
your life coach to guide you along the way. I have learned by experience how to
recognize holding patterns in our lives with relationships, money, careers,
spirituality, and our health. I can show you ways to shift into a higher way of
thinking, a holistic way to bring about change.
Thank you for reading my story. When you are ready to make
changes in your life and live the life you were created for, give me a call. I
am excited to hear from you and meet you to help guide you on your journey.
Through this work on healing ourselves we are touching so many other lives in
our families and work places. This is how we will bring healing to the world,
one person at a time.
Love and light!
Dena Sawyer
